The Jedi way makes little sense sometimes.

To put it into context:

The Jedi Order at the time of Anakin/Padme was INCREDIBLY strict. Dress code, behavior, and relationships were all tightly monitored and the oath to the Order was based on following this code.

After the downfall of the Order, when Luke Skywalker was the “last” Jedi, he reestablished the New Jedi Order, with far more open and loose rules, partly because he had to be willing and able to accept more and different people into the order. So, marriage was allowed, and love was permitted so long as it did not draw you to the dark side.

So yeah, Anakin was a victim of his era.

Anakin was also a whiny little bitch.

But yeah, basically all of that.
