These attacks will obviously give people who are against a free internet more ammo and will likely sway more supporters to their sides.

Messing with people of power does not make them back off and rethink it makes them mad and push harder right back. Honestly that’s what anyone would do not just politicians.

Protests are made to raise awareness. If people who are indifferent begin to voice their discontent realize what’s going on, more people will complain and “those in power” will have to answer.

Of course, if people stay behind the walls of ignorance and talk about how “these hackers will destroy internet we need to stop them” that’s an entirely different matter altogether but at least they are doing something. They might not even realize it, of course, because of “the lulz”.

Sorry, but this is not a protest. Their is nothing wrong with protesting and raising awareness, but what anonymous is doing is an attack, and what do you do when someone attacks you, you attack them back.
